Volunteering in School Libraries

Join the “Friends” as we update, automate and create beautiful Library Information Technology Centers (LIT Centers), i.e. school libraries. OUSD requires that all volunteers are registered. This process includes a TB test and a security clearance. FOPSL volunteers will need to complete this process in order to volunteer in school libraries. FOPSL volunteers will register through Oakland School Volunteers. Simply click here and follow the instructions on the Oakland School Volunteers Community Member Application. When the application asks about volunteering experience, state that you volunteer with FOPSL. Contact Kari Hatch at khatch.fopsl@gmail.com when you have received clearance or if you have any questions about the process or volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for your supporting school libraries. I look forward to hearing from you.

We hope to see you real soon!

OUSD requires that all volunteers are registered through the Volunteer Portal, are fingerprinted and have a TB test. There have been some recent changes, so please contact Kari Hatch at khatch.fopsl@gmail.com if you have questions about TB testing and Live Scan Fingerprinting when volunteering for FOPSL.

Volunteers from The Focal Point enjoy a pot luck lunch with FOPSL before setting to work on the library to be shared by Rise Community and New Highland Academy.
