Realtors Support Readers

Oakland public school libraries would love to take part in the California Young Reader Medal (CRYM) program, but we need your help.

Every spring school children throughout California get to vote on the books they think should win the California Young Reader Medal. The CYRM Program is a fun and engaging way for students to gather in their school library to read and discuss books.

At Friends of the Oakland Public School Libraries, we know that programs
like the California Young Reader Medal bring kids and classes into school libraries and inspire kids to read. We would like every public school library in Oakland to have the opportunity to offer this program, but OUSD budgets just won’t allow for the purchase of the book sets necessary to participate in the program.

Please join our Realtors Support Readers Program by making a tax deductible donation for as many school books sets as you can by December 15th. We’ll order the books from our library book vendor, so that the books are prepared and ready to go straight onto school library shelves in January.

Click here to visit our “Donations” page. Click on the donate button and write “Realtors Support Readers” where it instructs to “add specific instructions to seller.”

Elementary school sets are $300. Our Goal is to buy 30 sets of books.
Middle School sets are $150. Our Goal is to buy 10 sets of books.

Purchasing a whole set ensures the library will receive copies of each nominated title, however smaller donations are also appreciated and will go directly toward the purchase of these book sets.

You will receive a thank you letter from the school libraries you support.

You will receive a tax receipt for your tax-deductible donation.

All agents/firms supporting our Realtors Support Readers program will be listed on our Facebook page and in our quarterly newsletter.

To make your donation by check: Make payable to FOPSL. Write “Realtors Support Readers” on the memo line. We can pick your check up from your office. Or, you can mail your check to: FOPSL attn: Elaine Wells 6061 Chelton Drive, Oakland, CA 94611.
